Local CustomThe Doctor is turned black and dropped into the American South in the 1950's during Segregation. How does the Doctor handle human prejudice? With a smile!Local Custom by Betawhofic
Light exploded in the TARDIS, blinding white.
"What was that?"
"Not sure. But apparently we've landed."
"Doctor! You've regenerated!"
"Don't be ridiculous."
"But you've changed!"
The Doctor looked down at his hand on the console. He picked it up and turned it over. It was a black man's hand. He looked up at his companion, Mandy, a tall, robust blond woman from the 23rd century. Except now she was a petite redhead.
They were both wearing their normal clothes, but they weren't the same people.
They stared each other, taking in the changes.
The Doctor started working on the console, his motions a little unbalanced as he got used to the new body. "It looks like the chameleon arch sent out a random pulse."
"Does that mean you're human now?"
The Doctor stopped his frantic configuring and seemed to think abou

"Oh, come on, it wasn't that bad," the Doctor said, throwing a smile and a peace sign at a long haired man selling flowers outside the theater. "It's not like they have any idea of the relative distribution of sentient lifeforms in a galaxy."
"It wasn't that. It was those costumes," River said. "Did you see those honeybuns she was wearing over her ears? Even in the 90's that was cringeworthy. And that "Help me, Obi-Wan" didn't help."
"Oh, I don't know, you've been known to call for help a time or two," he grinned and wiggled a finger on the end of her nose. She batted him away. "And it doesn't diminish you. Everyone needs help every now and then."
She kicked away a stray Coke bottle that was littering the pavement. "Well," she conceded, "she wasn't completely useless, and Han was hot."
She grinned and snuggled up to him, she tugged on the longish hair at the back of his neck. "Don't worry, sweetie, I have a thing for renegades."
Opposites AttractAmy catches the Doctor and River dancing, unaware that they are observed...Opposites Attract by Betawhofic
The Tardis sound system was cranked up as high as it would go, the walls practically vibrated.
River took two steps forward, he took two steps back. They came together because opposites attract.
He spun her in, wrapped in his arms, his front to her back, she flirted at him. Because opposites attract.
He smiled at her, and spun her away. She grinned and prowled, intent on getting her way.
Her shoulders waggled, his feet fancy stepped. She tapped a rhythm and he counter danced.
Amy knelt quietly at the top of the stairs, her mouth hanging open as Paula Abdul blared out of the sound system. Below, in the open area of the Tardis, River and the Doctor danced.
River rubbed the back of her shoulders against the Doctor to the music, her hair wild, wearing a kicky little black dress and a brilliant smile.
The Doctor, in his tux, slid away from her with a sliding dance step, then spun and grabbed her, twirling her
InterviewAn alien is interviewed on the news about his planet's encounter with the Doctor...Interview by Betawhofic
"So, your world had an encounter with The Doctor?" the video commentator asked.
"Yes," agreed Wensel, shifting uncomfortably, knowing that he was being transmitted to millions on news broadcast video.
"So what happened?" the commentator asked.
"The Vintotchi Fleet had seen our world and decided it was exactly what they were looking for. They invaded, we had no defense against them. Then the Doctor arrived. Witnesses said he just appeared out of nowhere, in a large blue box. He immediately became interested in our problems and decided to help."
"What form did this help take?"
"Infiltrating the Vintotchi mothership. Taking over the nuclear power plant in the Debrons district, and reconfiguring it into a weapon."
"Isn't that a bit unusual?" the commentator asked. "Reports of the Doctor usually say he dislikes weapons."
Wensel nodded. "He does. There was a ferocious argument about it."
